Madison Johnston

Coach

Madison started Olympic lifting during the COVID lockdowns after a brief stint doing CrossFit. She eventually began training in a box again and joined the coaching staff with her L1 in 2021. Since then, she’s gone on to get her CrossFit L2 and USAW-L1 and fallen in love with both the methodology and the excitement of helping people find the joy in movement. While she is still primarily an Olympic lifter currently prepping for Nationals this summer, she deeply enjoys CrossFit and hits metcons as regularly as possible.

Her love of coaching and working with people one-on-one eventually lead to transition from a career in research to one in healthcare. Madison has a Master's degree in psychology and a PhD in cellular & behavioral neurobiology and will graduate with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Oklahoma this May. She is an Institute of Clinical Evidence Certified Fitness Athlete Specialist, and she is excited to begin seeing patients with RCVR when her temporary license arrives in late May/early June. In the meantime, she’ll continue working with athletes in both group settings and one-on-one by appointment as a fitness, mobility, and nutrition coach.

When she’s not studying, training, or coaching, Madison loves petting dogs (if you have one, she wants to meet them), hiking, reading, and snacking. She’s super excited to get to know you all!
